Latest from City Hall:

Today Rob Ford made it official that Councillor Norm Kelly is officially his new deputy mayor. Despite Ford’s wishes for a byelection, Council has voted to fill the vacancy left behind by Doug Holiday (Ward 3), by an appointment. Council will appoint Holiday’s replacement in October and the person appointed will serve for roughly 14 months. This is the first time since amalgamation that Council will not hold a byelection for a vacancy this early in the term. The appointment vote will use the runoff system.
